Peerless Water Filter System
The Dominique France Peerless Water Filtration System. Just what you've been asking for to get spot free drying when you wash your car. You can wash and rinse your car using this filter and let it dry without a single water spot! This affordably priced garden hose filter uses standard sized rechargeable filter cartridges and connects to standard 3/4" garden hose fittings. The filter comes with everything needed including one rechargeable filter cartridge, hose adapters, a mounting bracket for mounting the filter on a wall or the side of a garden cart. Also included is a filter wrench to assist in cartridge change.. The clear case is handy with sediment cartridges especially, because it lets you see when the cartridge needs replacement without opening the vessel. Replacement cartridges are available Since the system is rechargeable you can use the filter syste for all rinsing and simply keep one cartridge “on recharge” while you use the second one. - recharging instructions
How to recharge your DF Peerless Water Filter System Cartridge
The filter cartridge ( for our garden hose filter is filled with the same resin that’s in a home water softener, and it’s just as effective. But because of its small size, it's lifespan is limited. On moderately hard water a new cartridge has about a 90 gallon capacity before it begins to “leak” hardness.
The good news, though, is that you can renew it through an easy, inexpensive process, that will last virtually forever!
Here’s how:
Buy a bag of standard water softener salt. It usually costs less than £10 for a 25Kg
bag. It’s sold in most DIY outlets and builders merchants. Pour a generous amount of softener salt into a large pan or bucket. Fill the pan with water until it covers the salt. But don’t overdo it. You want to make some very salty water. Put your spent softening cartridge into the pan of salty water and let it sit at least overnight. (It won’t hurt it to stay there indefinitely, so you might just store it there between car washes.) The salty water, brine, will dislodge the calcium (hardness) buildup on the resin and replace it with sodium.
You might consider buying a spare cartridge or two so that one can be recharged while another is in use. If you keep one cartridge stored in the brine you can always have a recharged unit handy. Just swap out the one in the filter case for the one stored in the brine and your set to go! The useful life between regenerations, of course, depends upon the hardness of your water.
Water Filters, do they actually work ?
The only way to find out if the water filter is actually softening your water is to test it. The DF water hardeness test kit is a simple to use tester to measure your water hardness and check the effectivenessof your filter.
Here in East Anglia we have very hard water. A sample from my mains supply to my hose showed that the water hardness was over 500ppm - it took over 25 drops of test fluid to turn the water from red to blue.
I then sampled the output from the filter through my hose pipe to simulate using it on the car. The results were staggering - The output water turned blue immediately with just one drop of fluid from the test kit showing that the hardness was near to zero . The test kit said 5 drops would have be 100ppm so one drop is less than 20ppm the minimum reading of my £4.99 kit!
We have had users evaluating the filters in a full valeting environment. A customer with 260ppm water ran up to 400 litres to his storage tank before the water hardeness started to return to the original value. The filter cartridge recharged overnight when left in salt water. He is now using almost a fifth less water to wash the cars than before so as he is on a water meter this is a saving in cost.
The filter system does not, in the areas we have tested it, appear to give a completely spot free finish when left in the sun (mind you the other systems that I tried never did either). Because there is so much airborne dust, pollen and other contaminents in our atmosphere I suspect that it will never be possible to rinse a car and leave it to dry in the sun spot free. As most of you will know even leaving the car out aftre just waxing it is normally dusty within minutes. The solution to this for those who don’t like using water blades is to continue to dry the car with a good microfibre towel or to blow off the water using an air line of vacuum system that can blow as well. This works a treat!
The feedback is that any remaining water spots in door shuts and seams are much easier to wipe away after using the filter plus you need far less water and shampoo to clean the cars. With less calcium in the water there is also going to be benefits in wax longevity and less inclination for the topcoat to become cloudy with the disolved calcium affecting the finish. Overall the feedback I am getting is that the filter system does exactly what the manufacturer says and the benefit is a significant reduction in running costs compared to other systems which have to be disposed of once used.
The result.... It works... And the bonus is the filter is rechargeable so the on going costs are minimal if you buy the kit with the spare cartridge All you need is a £5 bag of water softener salt tablets and a plastic storage box
Total cost about a tenner!
Compare this to the other models available such as Aquagleam which only claims 30ppm and is £45....per disposable Filter ! And you can’t recharge it! Or Zymol’s rechargeable system which is over £125 just for the basic filter without fittings or spare cartridge... I actually paid over £140 last year for two 3ft ionic filters. They lasted less than a month.... That’s very expensive car washing!
If you are in any of the hard water areas shown on the map then you will love the
new Peerless Water Filter
If you have very hard water, your water has a lot of sediment, calcium, or rust or you have well water with a lot of sediment then the new DF Peerless™ Dual Water Filtration System is for you! It contains one sediment filter which first removes sediment as small as 5 microns and one softening filter identical to the one in our single stage system. Alternatively you can extend the life of your filters by running two softening cartridges in the dual system.
